so why is it that sometimes people become sarcastic towards others who are practicing bhakti I think there can be many reasons one point is that people sometimes feel if they are brought up in a pious culture they feel insecure if they are not practicing that piety and they try to conceal, mask their insecurity under a veneer of sarcasm why are you wasting your time like this so usually when you start practicing any you start living a principle centered life you go through multiple stages first is that we are mocked that’s what usually happens and second stage is that we are neglected this person is like this only now even if I mock them this person is going to do the same thing so then there is neglect after neglect then there is respect this person not just one day, two days not just one month, two months consistently year after year this person is practicing they may not even express that respect to you directly but to others they will say this person is a principle person because ultimately everybody wants to live a meaningful life they may seek their meaning in watching movies or in going for parties but at the core they are haunted what I am doing is empty so if we live principle centered they appreciate that what they usually don’t like is if we impose what we are doing we push them too much come do this, do this so if we don’t do that they will respect and eventually through their own life also when some circumstances will come where they feel the need for a spiritual shelter they will follow so we need to tolerate that phase of derision of mocking and if you tolerate that then that relationship will evolve through other phases because often people mask their own insecurity or they may mask their own misconceptions about what they think we are doing we should not get disheartened yeah we should not get disheartened, not at all because it’s just a phase in their own spiritual evolution
