Question from Debonel Dutta Prabhu Anyone who is related to Krishna Is worshipped Then why Lord Shiva who is Maha Vaishnava is not worshipped Answer It is not that Lord Shiva is not worshipped Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Also went to temples of Lord Shiva For example Bhuvaneshwar temple And he would dance there Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu has also written a Shiva Ashtaka Which comes in Chaitanya Charita One of the biographies of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu And there he glorifies Lord Shiva As a Devotee As the great devotee of Lord Vishnu So We can definitely worship Lord Shiva But at the same time devotees Want to For their own focus They want to keep the devotion Pure and they also don’t want to Create confusion By giving a wrong impression among people So Lord Shiva is definitely a great Vaishnava But He is not seen as such By people Many people think him to be supreme And Because they think him To be supreme Then when he is The spiritual master nobody thinks him to be supreme At least not in the Vaishnava traditions So when we worship The spiritual master it’s always in Connection with Krishna When we sing the Mangala Aarti To glorify the spiritual master The whole Mangala Aarti is centered on how the Spiritual master is devoted to Krishna But in many cases When the worship of Lord Shiva is done It is done not In the mood that Lord Shiva is a great devotee Of Vishnu But that Lord Shiva himself is an independent Object of worship And because of this Mood that is there Widely prevalent based on a misconception that All Gods are One or all Gods are competitors Or all Gods are manifestations of One Brahman or There are many different Gods and we have to worship Whichever one we like or we have to worship all of them All these misconceptions are there in today’s Society and so devotees Don’t want to increase those misconceptions That’s why they Focus on worshipping Krishna And if we happen to go to a Shiva temple Certainly we can offer obeisances But for us We ourselves also So we don’t want to create Misconceptions that we also Endorse the idea that there are many Gods That’s why we don’t ourselves go to Worship Shiva temples Separately As a sadhana And along with that for ourselves also The deities who have connected The personalities who have connected us To Krishna They are the primary representatives of Krishna In our life and that’s why we respect them The spiritual master Other senior devotees Especially the Acharyas in the parampara So they are the means Through whom we have got Krishna And that’s why we respect and worship them Now Lord Shiva There are so many devotees whom we can All be worshipping If we want to worship all the devotees In the history of the universe That’s not practically possible So for If we have had some special Experience With Lord Shiva Where Lord Shiva has guided us to worship Lord Krishna Then surely we can be grateful to Krishna As well as Lord Shiva Because it is Krishna who acted And he acted through Lord Shiva for guiding us Then we can be grateful And whenever we happen to go to Shiva temple We can worship But because we want to keep our devotion fixed And often Lord Shiva is perceived as a Not as a devotee Publicly but as another Separate devata So in order to not distract Or divert our devotion And in order to not create Misconception among people We don’t worship Lord Shiva separately To understand more about the Position of Lord Shiva You can hear the question What is the position of Lord Shiva.
