Thank you why do we die of unhappiness? Krishna continues describing the mentality and the destiny of those who engage in adharma so he describes they do activity karma which is which produces misery such people do activities again that bring misery using their body they do such miserable activities and again they will get a material body they will accept Atra and that body will also be temporary that body will also end in the devastation of death what happens is there for those who are those who are engaged on the path of death those who are destined to death what happens is there for them so here Krishna is talking about the perception of the wise of the life of the sinful that means how the wise look at the lives of the sinful those who are sinful they are so intoxicated in their pursuit of pleasure that they often don’t even think that there will be future consequences for what I am doing but the wise do think of this and just as a person who is say driving a vehicle and person is driving say a motorcycle at a very high speed and is getting a thrill in driving at that ultra high speed thinks oh when I drive a bike having a huge noise and I go at such a blinding speed everybody turns their head and say who is going so fast so people get a thrill in that in general what everyone is doing if we can do something extraordinary the normal human tendency is to get a thrill in that now driving is to be done for travelling for going from one place to another and nature has given us speed and nature has given us intelligence we may use our intelligence to create some vehicles for going faster but then the purpose of driving is primarily travelling the purpose of driving is not just getting a kick out of driving or not just showing or drawing attention by our foolhardy driving but so people who are who are sober they can observe that somebody who is driving at a foolhardy speed that person is inviting death there are sometimes safety slogans which the traffic department for speed kills kills speed so wise people or thoughtful people they say yeah this is true and they drive at a reasonable safe speed but there are others who drive at a super fast speed and they are so caught in the intoxication of their driving that they don’t think they think that they have got some sort of insurance by which they will not meet the accidents so Krishna is now talking about those who can observe dispassionately similarly just like a person who is driving recklessly that person may think oh I am enjoying and all those who are censuring me are just kill joys but that enjoyment is hazardous similarly those who are enjoying doing vikarmic activities they may just snort and neglect those who caution them by talking about principles of dharma but those who are sober people they don’t get carried away they don’t get infatuated they don’t get captivated by such people who are driving recklessly they are sober so similarly he has stated that the body that we have it may promise pleasure and it may also deliver some pleasure when it is young and healthy but youth soon passes off and health soon passes off and then the body becomes a source of great misery and when it is a source of great misery at that time not much can happen at that time one is bearing the consequences however in much of modern society the misery of life is covered over and the miserable are shunted out of public view so that the illusion of pleasure and pursuit of pleasure the illusion that pleasure is available and the pursuit of pleasure can go on unabated but a wise person thinks that these people are engaged in actions that will have disastrous consequences and therefore I will not do this Krishna is asking in this way here that Krishna is going beyond the specific consequences of specific bad karmas to the generic problem with material existence he says that these people who engage in the pursuit of material sense gratification they act in a way that will give them another body and that body will also be subject to death and in this way they will all they will perpetuate their misery therefore what is the point what is the point in living such a life and what is the happiness in such a life so Krishna concludes this with a rhetorical question wherein he states that what is the happiness for a person who is living on the path of Adharma on the path of Martya so generally Dharma is meant for taking us from mortality to immortality so a famous Upanishadic saying from the behind Arany now but some people are they consider it almost like the Dharma they may not believe in Dharma in the sense that they may not believe in principles of conduct that are given by God but they act according to their own nature and they think this is the way I am going to live it’s almost like they have taken a vow to engage in sinful activities Krishna talks about it also in the Bhagavad Gita as such people are they have taken a vow to engage in unclean activities similarly for those who are who have who have vow how to engage in Adharmic activities to keep them in the cycle of birth and death which will keep them on the path to death what happiness can be there some people may be dancing on a ship but and enjoying on the ship but if they know that the ship is sinking then what is the point in dancing on the ship and trying to enjoy the ship is going to sink so a wise person thinks not of enjoying the dance on the ship but on how to get out of the ship similarly Krishna says that don’t engage in materialistic activities but practice bhakti by which one can transcend material consciousness and thereby transcend the misery of mortality and attain immortal happiness
