Chaitanya Chaitanya Amrit Madhya 6272 Muktipade Yandrase Muktipadahai Muktipadahai kim vanavoma padartha amuktir samashray Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in this section is giving a proper understanding of the meaning of the word Muktipad Muktipade sadai bhak this word came in the Brahma's prayers and Sarvatacharya being concerned by its impersonalist connotations wanted to redefine it as Bhaktipade as wanted to remove the word Mukti from their entire Chaitanya Mahaprabhu did not approve that although he did not explicitly disapprove what Sarvabhauma was doing he appreciates Sarvabhauma's intention and through this pastime we understand how intense must be the devotional mood of Sarvabhauma that he felt like doing something like this the sanctity of scripture the words of Vyasa are inviolable so now if we move onwards and consider what Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is saying here he is saying that there are 10 subjects that are talked about in scripture and among those 10 subjects the greatest is the subject of bhakti who is the object of bhakti so this classification of the 10 subjects comes twice in the Bhagavatam in the initial part in the second canto then it again comes in the eleventh and twelfth canto although there are some slight difference in nomenclature the essential point is an analysis to direct towards a particular conclusion the specifics of the analysis may vary just like we have in Sankhyam sometimes the components are analysed as 24 sometimes they are analysed as 7 8 elements sometimes they are analysed in different ways like this and essentially the underlying point is that all this analysis if it is meant to take us towards the conclusion that it is the absolute truth who is worshipable so if one gets that understanding that that is the purpose and perfection of any and every form of analysis so Chaitanya Mahaprabhu here is pointing in that direction when he says that first he gave an explanation that actually rather than saying mukti and pada as two different words muktipade that means the abode, the deliverer of mukti and that is the lord and don't he give another explanation that just as there are so many objects which are talked about in the Bhagavatam and among those various objects that are talked about subjects that are talked about the highest is the subject of Bhagawan and all the other subjects are considered to be ashrita and Bhagawan is the ashraya this is the philosophical principle also that Krishna says whatever exists and the seed of all of existence and without me a thing could exist so essentially Krishna speaks here about how one can move towards him through the steady practice of bhakti and through the analysis of the various subjects we move towards the goal of all analysis that is Krishna by all the Vedas I am to be known or the word Veda specifically can be said to refer to the Vedic literature generically the word Veda can also mean knowledge and this would mean that the purpose of all knowledge is Krishna so again the same thing is resonated that Krishna is the shelter of everything Krishna is the shelter of everything, he is the shelter of mukti also patir bharta prabhu sakshi nivasa sharanam surat prabhava pralayasthanam nidhanam bijam avayam so this Krishna who is the shelter gati, who is the destination who is the maintainer who is the witness, who is the master who is the nivasa who is the shelter nivasa sharanam surat he is the object of surrender he is the greatest well-wisher so that nivasa sharanam surat now we would say that it is one thing that ok we can say we are souls and we need to take shelter of Krishna so in that sense Krishna is the object of our shelter and we can talk about material elements they do not exist without Krishna but then what about concepts like mukti what does it mean when we say that Krishna is the shelter of mukti that means that it is Krishna who is the giver of mukti without Krishna's grace one cannot gain mukti so in that sense although sometimes from the devotional point of view the goal of liberation is considered to be a distraction from devotion as I have spoken in several verses about how a devotee does not desire liberation if that means that the devotee will be deprived of bhakti but even after speaking this sarodhama's mood remains that actually his point is that he wants to glorify Krishna and glorify bhakti and he is relishing the nectar so Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is giving a more inclusive vision of Krishna's glory that actually liberation is not a competition to the devotion and to Bhagwan rather liberation is also dependent on Bhagwan even those who choose to be away from Krishna whether they want to be in the material world or whether they want to be in brahman they still depend on Krishna and thus his understanding of Bhagwan and muktipada reveals a more expanded understanding of Krishna's all inclusive glory and thus Chaitanya Mahaprabhu demonstrates here his another glimpse of his endearing devotional scholarship that has earlier captivated the head and heart of sarodhama and that will be that endearing devotional scholarship is something with which Chaitanya Mahaprabhu will attract many many souls to the path of bhakti and we can also pray to lord Chaitanya that whenever we come across some section in scripture that seems to be different from the bhakti siddhanta from the personal conclusions he gives us the grace by which we too will be able to gain a proper understanding thank you.
