CC daily 87 – M 6.37-40 – The holy name brings the Lord’s consciousness from internal to external
Afterwards text 37 uchyakari kare sabhe nama sankirtan tritiya prahare haila prabhu rachetan chaitan chaitanam madhya nila 6.37 uchyakari loudly kare sabhe nama sankirtan loudly the devotees started doing nama sankirtan tritiya prahare tritiya prahare so in the forenoon in the third phase of the day haila prabhu rachetan so prabhu came back to consciousness the devotees recognized that lord chaitanya is not just gone into a state of physical unconsciousness because of some physical trauma when chaitanya maha prabhu was unconscious that simply means that he was conscious of some alternate reality and that reality was so absorbing that chaitanya maha prabhu was going on and on being unconscious so the devotees wanted to bring bring him back to external consciousness and how to do that the way was by doing nama sankirtan loudly chaitanya maha prabhu chaitanya maha prabhu describes what dreams he has had and usually his dreams are so exalted and so ecstatic that chaitanya maha prabhu never feel like leaving those dreams because in the dreams he is not just dreaming about krishna quite often he is participating in krishna's past times and when there is such intimate reciprocation unless what lord chaitanya has the opportunity to experience in external consciousness is more enriching more charming more attention grabbing than what he is experiencing in internal consciousness he will not come out of internal consciousness just as in his childhood chaitanya maha prabhu when nimaayi would cry the elderly the motherly ladies from the neighborhood they would chant the holy names and nimaayi would stop crying so similarly when chaitanya maha prabhu would go into ecstatic trances at that time the devotee had to bring them out they knew that the manifestation of krishna in the external consciousness that could attract lord chaitanya's consciousness back towards the external world that was the holy name so therefore they started singing the holy name and started singing them loudly in order to attract lord chaitanya's consciousness back to the external level from the internal level where it was absorbed and accordingly they did loud kirtan and then as they did the kirtan tritiya prahare hai la tritiya prahare as prabhupada translates the four noons just before the noon came up so the devotees had reached the temple hall chaitanya maha prabhu had reached in the morning and devotees had reached a little later and then by noon this was happening tritiya prahare hai la prabhura chetan chaitanya maha prabhu came back to consciousness hunkara kariya uthe hari hari bali anande sarva bhauma tandra laila pada dhuli hunkara kariya chaitanya maha prabhu made loud chaitanya maha prabhu just came out of his consciousness oh this is so ecstatic to hear the holy name as soon as one comes out to external consciousness kariya uthe and he got up and then he himself he heard the holy name that had brought him to external consciousness and he also started chanting the same holy name hari hari bali started speaking hari hari anande and joyfully sarva bhauma tandra laila pada dhuli and sarvambhattacharya took the dust of his lotus feet sarvambhattacharya thought this is really a great person so now if you see from the ethical point of view sarvambhattacharya is almost in the generation of the father of lord chaitanya and chaitanya maha was still a young person and of course in the renounced order but what had impressed sarvambhattacharya was that how is such a person young person exhibiting the symptoms of siddhita siddhita so that is very high level of siddhita bhava very high level of ecstasy is exhibiting and naturally it is a special soul and I want the dust of his lotus feet so when chaitanya maha came back to external consciousness he saw that he got further confirmation that chaitanya maha is no ordinary soul because normally when we come back to external consciousness normally when we wake up or we come out of unconsciousness we are usually disoriented what happened, where am I, who am I what was I doing, usually people are disoriented but chaitanya maha when he came out of unconsciousness also he was straight Krishna oriented and thus he started jubilantly affirming chanting of the holy name that he was hearing by saying hunkar and he reiterated the chanting by himself chanting Hari Hari and Sarvabhauma Bhattacharya was very jubilant, oh now this great person who is now at my home has come back to external consciousness sarvabhauma kahet shigra karah madhyahan mui bhikshu dimu aji maha prasadana so Sarvabhauma Bhattacharya told them all shigra karah madhyahan madhyahan means the mid day duty, so normally the those who are living pure brahminical life, they bathe several times in the day so whatever mid day duties are there bathing and others, do those duties mui bhikshu dimu so today I would like to offer the alms to you aji maha prasadana and I will offer you the maha prasad of lord Jagannath maha prasadana, now bhiksha the word alms it was a respectable word at that time also so just like in English there are two words there is beggar and there is mendicant so a beggar it is it is quite a disrespectful word it conveys somebody who has who doesn't want to work or who works, whose only work is begging whereas mendicant is a person who has taken a religious vow of poverty and does not have any possessions and focuses primarily on spiritual cultivation and because while doing spiritual cultivation also one has to live so in order to live, one has to eat something so he provides so those who want to eat like this for them, they get they are given charity so those who take charity, that means being a mendicant is quite a respectable thing and here it is stated that so mendicants are given alms and so bhiksha means it is saying that I would like to feed all of you I would like to give prasad to all of you and what prasad I will give you, I will give you lord Jagannath's maha prasad samudra snana kari maha prabhu shigra aila charana pakhali prabhu asane vasila so samudra snana Chetan Mahaprabhu went to the nearby ocean and he took a bath and shigra aila, so Sarvabhattacharya said please come back with this, Chetan Mahaprabhu came back with it charana pakhali and then Sarvabhattacharya was treating lord Chetan Mahaprabhu with great respect, thinking that he is such a great great sannyasi and also a great krishna devotee charana pakhali so it's interesting that Sarvabhattacharya he is said to be he is said to be a reservoir of bad logic and he was said to be an impersonalist that will be revealed when the philosophical discussion happens but still he was cultured and normally whichever denomination a sannyasi belongs to grahasthas are expected to honour those sannyasis and he followed that culture and charana pakhali, he washed the feet of lord Chetan Mahaprabhu and prabhu asane vasila and he offered Chetan Mahaprabhu a seat so the idea is that everybody is offered food but there is an etiquette and somebody who is a very special person, very exalted person that person is offered a special asan so the asan indicates a special kind of honour and that was shown here by Sarvabhattacharya to lord Chetanya in the way he offered asan for him to sit so slowly but surely the story will progress and how Chetan Mahaprabhu will deliver Sarvabhattacharya will unfold we will discuss this in our future talks.
