Today, we were discussing about Mahabharata. Tomorrow, we will move ahead. Today, we will discuss about Karna.
Some of the main points from Karna’s life, which people have a misunderstanding about, we will focus on that. But, from the beginning of Karna’s life, we will take an overview. So, the main difference between Ramayana and Mahabharata, is that, in Ramayana, the person, their intellectual level, is quite easy to understand.
One is white, and the other is Karna. Ramachandra is an ideal character. Ravana is a demon.
So, this black and white, Shweta and Shyama, are clearly seen in Ramayana. In some places, they are there, which cannot be misinterpreted in Ramayana. But, they are very less.
Similarly, the war that is taking place in Ramayana, on one side, there is a human being, and on the other side, there is a demon. So, in a way, we know that, demons are of demonic nature. So, in a way, they are also less.
So, demon and demons, are two different things. They are not one. Demons are one nature.
In Chapter 16, it is said, लईवा आसुर संपद विभाग योग. So, the demonic nature, means, means, the desire to keep the scriptures and God away, and enjoy them, that is demonic nature. And, the demons, are also of demonic nature.
But, demons are also a type of body. Like, there is a body of a snake, a body of an elephant, a body of a human being. Similarly, demons are a type of body.
We see, there are different types of bodies. There is a body of an elephant, there is a body of a human being, there is an elephant with teeth, there is an elephant with head, etc. So, there is a body of a certain type, that is demonic.
So, So, demon and demons, are not one. They are different. So, demons and demons, are one nature, and in human beings too.
In God, demons can also be one nature. When Indra, looks at Gautama Rishi’s wife, So, the battle of Ramayana is between humans and demons, but in Mahabharata, both sides are humans. Kauravas are humans and Pandavas are also humans.
So, the battle of Ramayana is between humans and demons. So, the battle of Ramayana is between humans and demons. So, this happens.
But in Mahabharata, it’s quite different. If, let’s say, and as I explained to you, In that, Karna was not only made a hero, but a great hero. And it was told that he had so many injustices in his life.
And despite the injustices, he tried to acquire a lot of wealth. And even after that, he was defeated and killed by injustice, cruelty and evil. This is how it is shown.
We will discuss about that today. So, what happened in Karna’s life, was it injustice? And if it was not injustice, then why did it happen like this? So, this is a story of his past life. But we will not give much emphasis on that.
Because today we are discussing how to understand us first, and at the same time, how to make others understand us. So, many people know about Mahabharata and Ramayana, but they do not have much faith in past life. And when it comes to logic, people do not understand it.
They do not accept it. Still, for completeness, in past life, Karna was an Asura. His name was Sahasrakavach.
So, Sahasrakavach. So, how many Sahasras were there on his body? 1000. So, he had 1000 Kavachas.
And he had got such a boon from the Gods, that in a war, if a warrior destroys all the Kavachas at the same time, then only he will be killed. Otherwise, he will not be killed. It means, if a warrior is allowed to leave 1000 Kavachas at the same time, and if he destroys all the Kavachas at the same time, then only he will be killed.
Otherwise, he will not be killed. So, because of getting such a boon, he became very powerful and cruel. So, he committed a lot of atrocities.
Then, Narnarayan Rishi, what did he do? He attacked him. There are different versions of this story in the Puranas. So, I will tell you one version.
This story is for different Kalpas. So, when he attacked him, his 999 Kavachas were destroyed. And when the last Kavach was about to be destroyed, then he ran away from the battlefield, and while running, he jumped into the sky, and entered the Sun.
He took the refuge of the Sun. And now, a warrior, imam vivasvate yogam, he is a Kshatriya. When a Kshatriya is given refuge, then he has to protect it.
So, that is why, they give him refuge. But then, he knows that this is a person of bad character. So, that is why, the one Kavach that is left on his body, that Kavach comes in the next birth.
And that Kavach that comes in the next birth, that Kavach comes in Karnakashera. So, after that, we all know that story, how Kunti, who is a young girl, she is unmarried, she serves Durvasa Muni, and Durvasa Muni gives her a mantra. And she says that mantra in the game itself.
Let’s see if any God comes. And she looks at the Sun and says, and immediately the Sun comes there. And when the Sun comes there, he says that you have called me, what do you want? She says, I don’t want anything.
I said, I am just playing, I am a small child. She says, she is not small, she is a young girl. So, while playing, I said to her, I don’t want anything, please go.
She says, I can’t go like this. The Sun came there and said that, Mahabharata says that, if a citizen of the earth calls God, if a citizen of the earth calls God, from heaven or from above, and that God comes, and tells her to go like this, then that God will be insulted. All other Gods will laugh at me.
I became a puppet dancing in the hands of a small girl. So, if you have called me, then I know, why this mantra has been given to you. You have called me, I will give you a son now.
She says, Kunti, I am not mad, I can’t give you a son yet. I said, no, if I have come, then I will have to give you a son. She started complaining, that she will be defamed, I can’t do this.
I said, don’t worry, your virginity, in Hindi, your virginity, will not be affected. You will be a virgin, but you will have to accept a son. She said, no, no.
Suryadev said, no. What was Suryadev’s wish? He wanted to throw away the demons. That is why, he came here as Karna.
So, this was his evil intention from the beginning. But, because he had contact with Suryadev, because Suryadev and Kunti, their union, was kind of Suryadev was a great devotee, Suryadev was a devotee. He used to give Gita translation.
So, because of their union, he got some good qualities. But, these good qualities, were not from his own character. If we see from his own character, from his previous work, it was actually an evil intention.
So, after that, when Kunti was in her palace, and this little boy was there, what will we do now? So, she started praying, started meditating, and later accepted him, and decided that she cannot keep this boy with her. And then, she had a maid, a very old maid, and then she told her father, what will we do? Make a good plan, a good care, what do you call care? Like, like a wooden box, she put a mattress in the wooden box, to make the boy comfortable, she made everything comfortable. And along with that, she put all the ornaments around him.
And she said, whoever finds this boy, will see that these are all ornaments, and will understand that he must be a big boy, and will take good care of him. And then she went to the bank of the river, and she also went to the bank of the river, and then, what was she praying for? She prayed to the god of the river, to the god of the air, to all the gods, that please, take care of this boy. I cannot take care of him, So, please take care of him.
So, in reality, it was not like that, Kunti, was very irresponsible, and without any concern, she left the boy. It was a necessity. Because in Vedic culture, the virtue of a woman is very important.
And if she does not stay, then, the life of that woman, becomes very difficult. And not only for her, but for the whole family, she gets defamed. And if we want a glimpse of this, then we can see in Mahabharata that Amba, who goes to Vishwamitra, Amba, Ambika, Ambalika, Swayamvar, and brings all three to victory.
Chitravirya and Chitranga, who are the people of Pandu, Uttar Pratapaji’s generation, they bring them to victory. So, Amba says, I have already accepted my love for Shalu. And he has also accepted me.
And we both, in Swayamvar, he was going to take my hand and I was going to marry him. So, I have already given him my heart. So, Vishwamitra, who is a Brahmin, says, if you have already given him your heart, then you can go to his house.
You can go to his house. And then, he sent some soldiers to Shalu’s kingdom. Shalu said, you have been touched by another man.
You have gone with him. I cannot accept you. Shalu said, I did not go by my own will.
I went by force. And as soon as I got the first chance, I immediately told Abhishek. And I brought him back.
He left me. I was helpless. So, Shalu said, I know.
But still, I am a king. And a king has to accept respect for ordinary people. So, if I accept such a woman as my queen, who has been touched by another man, then it will be a very inappropriate behaviour for the society.
That is why I cannot accept you. So, later, the mother does penance. And in the next birth, she becomes Shikhandi.
And in the middle, she becomes the cause of death. So, here, I am giving an example. If a woman has been touched by another man before marriage, then also, in Vedic culture, it will be a bad omen for that woman.
So, it was very sad for Kunti that she had to leave her son. So, she tried her best. She made a good boat, a basket, kept jewels in it, kept wealth in it, and prayed to the God.
And in this way, she kept the child in the river. The flow of the river, that time she put the child in the river, that flow will take the child to the other side. And then, the child, we know, in the Kuru clan, his charioteer, Adirath, he got him.
And he did not have a son. So, he was very happy. And then, he accepted him.
And he saw that he looks like a very strong child. He is strong. And there is some shield on his body.
He looks like a divine child. We do not know who he is. But he accepted him.
In a way, we see that in Karna’s life, there was injustice for him. So, what was the injustice? He was born in a Kshatriya clan. But, he was called as the son of a Kshatriya for his whole life.
And people consider him as the son of a Kshatriya. So, in a way, there was injustice for him. And, we will discuss about this injustice later.
But, the main thing to understand is that, in this world, there is injustice with everyone. If we see from the perspective of pre-birth, there is no injustice with anyone. We get our karma.
But, if we see from the perspective of pre-birth, there is injustice with everyone. There was injustice with Karna only. But, there was injustice with Pandavas also.
What were the qualities of Pandavas? In reality, they were great devotees. And, if we see from the perspective of pre-birth, they were full of good qualities. They had good conduct.
Still, what happened with them? There was a conspiracy with them. They were tried to poison them. They were tried to burn them.
And, later, in an open court, their wife was insulted. And, all their property was snatched. And, they were made beggars.
So, there was injustice with them. There is injustice with Karna also. So, in the scriptures, it is not emphasised that, there was injustice with me, there was injustice with me, there was injustice with me.
Okay. There is injustice with everyone in this world. If you see from the perspective of this world, this life.
And, how do we react in the time of injustice? That, I have to tell you. We will see in the Ramayana also. How can we say that, there was injustice with Lord Ramachandra? He was a noble, ideal son.
He was a prince. And, without any fault, he was sent to exile. And, when Bharat Maharaj comes, and he asks, that Ram has been sent to exile, then, why was he sent to exile? He says, that, a king, a Kshatriya, especially, being sent to exile, is one level below the death penalty.
Being sent to prison, is even more dangerous than being sent to exile. Okay. So, he says, that, this Kshatriya, who has an unethical relationship with a Brahmin woman, who conspires to kill a king, who commits such heinous crimes, he will be punished like this.
He says, that, I can never even imagine, that Ram has been sent to exile. So, why was he sent to exile? Here, the point is, that, such a severe punishment, was given to Lord Ramachandra. And, He is God.
How can He have any bad deeds? So, the example given in the scriptures, is that, there is injustice with everyone. But, what is the reaction of this injustice? So, he says, there is injustice with me, that is why I will be unethical. This is not the right reaction.
So, there is injustice with Karna, and there is injustice with Pandavas. Someone can say, there is injustice with Duryodhana. Duryodhana can say, that, he was the son of a big brother, but because his father was blind, that is why he did not get the kingdom.
He can say, that, if we want to eradicate the chain of injustice in this world, then, we can eradicate injustice everywhere. So, what is it? We, in this life, how we work, is dependent on this. So, even though, there is injustice with us, but our reaction should be with ethicality.
It should be correct. So, this is the main difference between Karna and Pandavas. Both say, there is injustice.
So, in Karna, there were many virtues. And, when we will discuss about them, then, we will also see the virtues. So, later on, Karna, with his body, and mind, he used to use Kshatriyas.
So, that is why, he went to different places, that, I need Kshatriya training. First, he went to Dronacharya. And, Dronacharya said, that, I, apart from Kshatriyas, do not give training to anyone else.
So, is this a difference from birth? If we will see Mahabharata, then, it looks like, it is a difference from birth. So, I will discuss about this later on. You will like this a lot.
So, he goes to Parshuram. And, Parshuram says, I have taken a vow, that I will not give training to anyone apart from Brahmins. So, Dronacharya said, apart from Kshatriyas, I will not give training to anyone.
And, he said, apart from Brahmins, I will not give training. So, Karna says, I am a Brahmin. I am a Brahmin.
So, Parshuram says, I will give you knowledge. And, Karna learns everything very carefully. So, from that time, he becomes very good in war.
And, at one time, he becomes a very dear disciple And, like this, Parshuram is sleeping in his lap. While sleeping, a insect comes. And, it starts biting Karna’s leg.
So, Karna, as a disciple, becomes a servant. So, he thinks, my Guru is sleeping. He should not be disturbed.
He should not be disturbed. That is why, he tolerates it. He tolerates it.
But, due to the bite of the insect, blood comes out. So, the heat of the blood, Parshuram feels it. He wakes up.
And, he sees, Parshuram, he finds out, that the service is so good. But, still, the avatar of Parshuram, what was the nature of that avatar? Kshatriya, which is the beginning of the Gita, which comes from the Avatara Sutra, that, Kshatriya Randhir, that, in the battle of Kshatriyas, he had shed blood. Rivers were flowing.
So, because, his father’s voice, Karate Veer Arjun, had done it, of Jamadagni. So, that is why, he was very angry with Kshatriya. So, he said, Parshuram, that, that, this nature, in this way, tolerating physical pain, this, Kshatriya, is not possible for a Brahmin.
This is possible for a Kshatriya. You are not a Brahmin, you are a Kshatriya. So, a Brahmin, can tolerate penance on a physical level.
Fasting, and, he can tolerate penance, but, if physically, there is an injury, there is an injury, then, tolerating the injury, this, in reality, is possible for a Kshatriya. Because, a Brahmin does not fight, so, he does not get injured. He can injure himself, that is, penance.
He said, this nature, this is the nature of a Kshatriya. Tell me the truth, who are you? He said, I am not a Brahmin. So, Parshuram, got very angry.
He said, that, you, have said a lie to your Guru, so, I curse you, that, whatever, you have taught me, the most important knowledge, that you have learnt, that, for you, the most important time, when it will come, in your life, at that time, you will forget, that knowledge. So, then, Karna, he prostrates, and leaves. When Karna leaves, then, he becomes very disappointed.
He has got all the knowledge, but, he will forget the most important time. He is remembering that, and then, he sees, an animal is passing by, so, he thinks, he thinks, that, an animal has come, so, he already has the feeling of a Kshatriya, and, now, in a way, he has been rejected from his Guru, he has been insulted, he has been cursed, so, the enthusiasm, to show the capability of a Kshatriya, he showed it to him. So, he took out his arrow, and, he shot the arrow of Ravishankar.
And, he thought, that, it was an animal, but, what was it? It was a cow. It was a cow. And, he killed the cow.
And, the Brahmin, whose cow was there, when he came there, the Brahmin, got lost because of him. And, he thought, that, you, you should protect the cow. You have the capability of a weapon, you have killed the cow, and, the cow, is like the land.
There are different versions of this story. The cow is like the land. The cow, who, today, took his life, the same cow, he, the cow, is like the land.
is like the land. At that time, if we, work in anger, like, he left one more arrow, then, would get worse. And, after that, here, the Pandavas, were learning, from Puranacharya.
Pandavas, and Kauravas. And, among them, the, Arjuna, was, clearly, Nipun. He had become Nipun.
He had become Arjuna. And, then, when Puranacharya’s son, Bheeshma, told him, that, now, your son, has, in his weapon, Nipunta, in his weapon, to show him, we will, do an exhibition. And, all of you, come, and, all of you, there, call the soldiers, the citizens, so that, everyone can see.
So, everyone came there. And, all the Kauravas, did an exhibition, of their weapons, of Nipunta, of Nipunta, Bheem, did an exhibition, of his weapons, of Pandavas, Bheem, did an exhibition, and, Bheem, and Duryodhana, were doing an exhibition, so, what happened, while doing the exhibition, in the battle of Gada, there was a duel between them. And, the duel, now, that is an exhibition, so, sometimes, in tennis, the exhibition is a match, it is a match to see, and, they started seeing, that there is a real war going on between the two.
So what happened was that Bheem had a pure heart. He didn’t have any bad intentions. But Bheem gave him so much power that he was very excited about it.
We will talk about Bheem later. But after that, seeing his power, Duryodhana was very jealous. So Duryodhana said to Bheem, If I have ego, even if the other person doesn’t have ego, I feel ego.
And if I have ego and the other person also has ego, I feel even more ego. Bheem is also a Kshatriya, so he also had ego in the form of a Kshatriya. And Duryodhana also had ego, so he was very jealous.
So the war started between the two. The war was very fierce, but it actually happened. Then Dronacharya caught Bheem and Ashwathama caught Duryodhana and separated them.
And then Arjuna started showing off his powers. So Arjuna was not only good at archery, he was also good at everything. And after seeing his power in archery, all the Nagas started clapping.
And Dhritarashtra was blind, and Dhritarashtra was hearing. What happened? What happened? And when he was told, Sanjaya told him, that seeing the power of Arjuna’s weapons, everyone started clapping. And Duryodhana also started feeling jealous, that if Duryodhana did this, then why didn’t everyone clap? So like this, when everyone was clapping, Duryodhana was jealous.
Because he was thinking, that I will see Bheem, but who will see Arjuna? Who will put Arjuna’s ego in the ground? So he was thinking, and when everyone was clapping, then he heard the sound of Arjuna’s feet in the door of the temple. He was thinking, that there is a very powerful person, and he heard the sound of his feet. Everyone saw, that there was a very powerful person coming there.
He was thinking, that he must be a Kshatriya. And he came there, and bowed in front of Drona. And Drona said, that whatever power Arjuna has shown, I can show that.
Do I have permission to show? Drona said, ok. And then, he started praying. And whatever power Arjuna had shown, he showed it all.
And Duryodhana was very happy to see this. He was very happy. I have found someone to face Arjuna.
And after that, when this was happening, everyone was clapping. I don’t know who he is, but he is doing a very good war. He is showing the power of war.
And then, this person, who was this person? It was Karna. Karna was coming from the Himalayas, where he had gone to the mountains. Then he said, that I want to have a duel with Arjuna.
So, Arjuna was very happy to hear this. Arjuna was a Kshatriya. Arjuna was thinking, who has come here? I am very proud of him.
Today I will destroy him. So, both were ready for the duel. He had come to fight with Dhanur.
And then, Kripacharya said, that if there is going to be a duel between two warriors, then their identity, their clan, their antecedents, who are they? What is their clan? Find out about their clan. Everyone knows what is Arjuna’s clan. What is your clan? Tell me.
And as soon as he said this, Karna bowed his head. He knew that if he was asked about his clan, then he is not a Kshatriya. He will not get a chance to prove it.
And as soon as Karna bowed his head, Duryodhana gave him a chance. And Duryodhana was standing outside. Duryodhana came there.
And Duryodhana started preaching a lot there, against the caste system. Duryodhana started saying, don’t you look at the arms of this warrior? Don’t you look at his hands and feet? Don’t you look at the ability of his archery? Don’t you look at the ability of his archery? How can such archery be in any clan, other than a Kshatriya? Is it possible that a cat can give birth to a lion? Is it possible that a mouse can give birth to an elephant? He started preaching a lot of poetry. He said that he is definitely a Kshatriya.
And when he said this, a lot of people applauded him. So in reality, if we look at Duryodhana’s character, Duryodhana seems to be a very pious person. But what was Duryodhana’s intention here? He wanted to fight Pandavas.
He wanted to fight Pandavas. So he was trying to make Karna a pawn in his own game. He was trying to make Karna a pawn in his own game.
So everyone applauded him. But still, Krupacharya and others were a little sceptical of him. So Duryodhana said, even if you don’t believe that he is a Kshatriya, So, I will make him a Kshatriya today.
And he said, I will make Karna the king of Anga. There was a kingdom called Anga. So, it was his area.
So, he said, I will make him the king. And then he called his ministers and said, Brahmins said, you can make him the king here. So, in this situation, in this situation, Karna became the king of Durga.
In a way, it is natural. If we are being insulted, and if someone respects us in the face of insult, then we become the king of Durga. And this is natural.
And here, in Mahabharata, the main thing that is taught from Karna’s example, is that, that a pious person, from a bad community, Karna is a pious person. And we will see his piousness later. He is a good person.
And a good person, from a bad community, becomes very evil. And becomes very evil. So, here, on the emotional level, on the emotional level, Karna won over Durga.
And then he said, you can make him the king. And he came there and made him the king. So, there, all the citizens who came there, Karna’s father was also there, Adirath.
And then, when Adirath came there, so, so, Adirath, he came running from where he was sitting, he was very happy, that my son has become a king. And he started bowing. And when he started bowing, so, when Karna saw that, he bowed and bowed to him.
And when he bowed, so, the Pandavas, there were some citizens, they said, see, see, he calls himself a Kshatriya, he is a Sutra. So, Duryodhana became very angry. Again, with the help of Karna, he said, whoever his son is, look at his character, look at his physique, he is definitely a Kshatriya.
And he should get all the credit of being a Kshatriya. So, all this was going on, at that time, there was going to be a duel, will it happen or not, all this was going on, at that time, what happened? Sunset. All day long, the duel was going on, in the evening, he came, and in the evening, it was sunset.
So, if we look at it from one side, so, Karna, according to his birth, there was some difference here. But, if we look at it from the other side, so, what was the purpose of the duel? There was a clear purpose, that the prince, he is a prince, he is a prince, he has got his education, and he is exhibiting the talent of his own weapons for the citizens of the state, for the elders of the state. So, in such a duel, it is not right to go and show your talent to someone else.
So, even if Karna was insulted here, actually, it was not right for Karna to go there. And, suppose, there is a cricket match going on in India, or cricket match is not a personal match, it is a tennis match. So, it is a tennis match of Indian players.
And, in that, a player from Russia, from America, comes and says, I want to participate in the competition here. So, even if he is the champion there, but for him, there is no chance. So, here, it was not right for him to come.
So, Karna was insulted there. Duryodhana gave him respect. But, coming there, it is not like that, it is a matter of caste, but, it was not right to come there.
But, after this, Karna and Duryodhana became very close friends. And then, Duryodhana thought, with the power of Karna, I will defeat Arjuna. Karna will defeat Arjuna.
And, Karna was proud of his capability. And, at the same time, Duryodhana said, give me a chance, I will defeat Arjuna. I will definitely defeat Arjuna.
So, in reality, Karna got a chance many times. So, we will not see anything in this. So, many times, people say that, in Mahabharata, Karna was more powerful than Arjuna.
And, that is why, in the battle, Arjuna killed Karna. But, it is not like that. If we see the entire Mahabharata, then, there are at least 3 incidents, in which, on Karna, it was proved that, Arjuna was more powerful than Karna.
Which 3 incidents are these? After this, Duryodhana, went to Pandavas and Kauravas, and asked them, what Guru Dakshina do you want? We will give it to you. So, Duryodhana said, defeat Drupada, make her a prisoner, and bring her to me. We will talk about Duryodhana later.
But, immediately, Kauravas and Karnas came with Drupada. Arjuna said, wait, let them come first, then we will go. So, all Kauravas went, and Karna was also there.
He was not Drona’s disciple, but he was a part of Kauravas. And, when Drupada’s army Drupada’s army, along with Drupada, and Kauravas, went to Arjuna. And, Arjuna, Bhima and Pandavas made Drupada a prisoner.
So, Drupada’s army defeated Karna. Arjuna defeated Drupada’s army. So, Arjuna is higher than Karna.
The second incident comes in Kamyavan. In Kamyavan, we will talk about Duryodhana later. Duryodhana goes to Kamyavan to visit his God.
He sees Pandavas on one side of the river, and Kauravas on the other side. So, Duryodhana and Karnas fight. And, Duryodhana’s Karna is also there.
So, Karna gets injured by Karna’s attack, and runs away. Later, Duryodhana becomes a prisoner. And, later, on Duryodhana’s request, Arjuna comes to fight.
And Arjuna defeats Karna. He also defeats Karna’s king. So, Karna is defeated by Gandharva, and Arjuna is defeated by Gandharva.
So, again, Arjuna is more powerful than Karna. And, in both these incidents, there was no direct battle. But, there was a direct battle.
Where was it? In Virat. In Virat, at the end of Aghyatvas, when Pandavas were in Virat, all the Kauravas came together. And, Karna was also there.
And, when all the Kauravas came there, with Karna, what happened? Then, Arjuna was alone. Here, all the warriors were there. Duryodhana, Dushasan, Bhishma, Drona, Kripa, Ashwathama, Karna, all were there.
All were great warriors. And, along with all these great warriors, the whole Kaurava army was also there. And, in the other side, Arjuna was alone.
Arjuna defeated everyone. He also defeated Karna. This is the third point.
When Arjuna directly defeated Karna, alone, when Karna had so many warriors, so many commanders, so, it is not like that, because, in reality, Karna was more powerful than Arjuna. So, this is from the trilayatmak point of view. But, let us see further, in the life of Karna.
After this, the important point that comes, when it seems that Karna was defeated, that was in the time of Draupadi. So, what happened in this? That, Karna wished that he will directly fight with the Pandavas. And, he did.
But, Shakuni said that this is not possible. You make some conspiracy. So, he was sent to Varanavarta.
They tried to burn Varanavarta. And, then, he escaped from there. And, in the jungle, he was living as a Brahmin.
And, the rest of the Brahmins said that Draupadi’s Swayamvar is going to happen. Drupad Maharaj will give a lot of donation. So, all of you come with us.
So, they also went there. All the Kshatriyas came there. Karna also came there.
So, here, Duryodhana tried to hit the target. But, the target missed. Duryodhana’s target.
Shishupala also tried. And, Krishna, Balram, Adi Yadav were also there. But, they did not try.
They knew that Draupadi is for Arjuna. That is why they did not try. And, later, Karna came there.
And, when Karna came there, he was going there. Then, Draupadi said something to Dushasan. She said something to Dushasan.
She said something to Dushasan, her brother. Dushasan said that my sister will not pray to any son or daughter. So, here, Karna felt very insulted.
And, in return for this insult, he did something later. So, what did he do? We will discuss later. So, if we look at it from one perspective, then, because of his birth, there is a difference.
So, here, we should understand two things. First is that this is Swayamvar. Swayamvar means that the princess will choose her husband.
Swayamvar. So, if Draupadi says that she does not want such a person, then, he is suitable for her. And, generally, it is understood that the Kshatriya princess will marry a Kshatriya.
So, we say that the good deeds can be married. But, in Vedic culture, generally, Kshatriya’s son used to be Kshatriya. Brahmin’s son used to be Brahmin.
He used to be circumcised. But, it is not like that all people used to be circumcised. So, after this, the feeling of Karna and the feeling of Arjuna, we will see this later, that when Arjuna was in Swayamvar, then what happened? There, Arjuna was in the form of a Brahmin.
And then, when Arjuna saw Draupadi, then he thought that he will also take part in Swayamvar. So, he asked the sage Dhaumya. So, he went to Arjuna and he greeted Draupadi.
He said to Draupadi that is it allowed in Swayamvar for a Brahmin to be circumcised? So, till that time, all the Kshatriya kings tried to circumcise her, but no one succeeded. So, Draupadi was worried. In reality, at that time, when Drupad Maharaj performed the yagya, Draupadi appeared.
So, at that time, the sage wanted such a daughter who will make Arjuna his son-in-law. So, he kept a condition. Do you know what was the condition? There is a wheel spinning above, and behind the wheel there is a fish, and looking down, you have to shoot an arrow above, or looking up, you have to shoot an arrow below.
So, it was very difficult to shoot an arrow. And no one other than Arjuna could do this. So, to make Arjuna his son-in-law, he kept such a condition.
But now, Arjuna is not there. What will he do now? So, if you see, the Kshatriyas are here, the Brahmins are above him, and Arjuna is below. So, look at Arjuna’s Sanskrit, when he is going to the competition, he is asking Drupad Maharaj, that in this competition, is it permissible for a Brahmin to be a companion? So, if Karna had asked this earlier, then Karna would not have been insulted.
Draupadi was not happy Draupadi, you should choose your husband. And if Karna had asked this earlier, then he would not have been insulted. But, to assume that I am qualified for something, to assume that I am qualified for something, and because of that, Karna was often insulted.
So, what did he do here? So, Arjuna asked for permission. When he asked for permission, Drupad Maharaj looked at Arjuna and asked, what kind of a Brahmin is he? He looks like a Kshatriya Brahmin. But still, he said, that Brahmins are always respectful to Kshatriyas.
And because they are respectful, that is why, if a Brahmin wants to be a companion, then, it is a matter of respect for us. And in front of everyone, Arjuna picked up his bow and hit the arrow in the right direction. And then, the Brahmins came to the assembly.
They were very happy. They thought that a Brahmin won, but the Kshatriyas could not. And then, Draupadi came and gave that garland to Arjuna.
And all the Kshatriyas were very angry. And they started saying, Drupad Maharaj has called us here to insult us. He has left all the Kshatriyas and given his daughter to a Brahmin.
Today, we will punish Drupad Maharaj in such a way, that later, no king will dare And all the kings started attacking Drupad Maharaj. When they started attacking, Drupad Maharaj became the king of India. And Yudhishthira Maharaj said, Drupad has become our father-in-law.
So, it is our duty to protect him. So, he told Arjuna and Bheema to protect him. Arjuna had the same bow.
When all the kings came in front of him, Arjuna came in the middle. And when Bheema saw that Bheema did not have any weapon, he was a Brahmin. He saw that there was a big year old tree.
So, he started going towards that tree. So, Yudhishthira Maharaj grabbed his shoulder and said, if you break this tree, then everyone will know that you are Bheema. So, you pick up some other ordinary weapon.
And then, there was a iron rod there. He picked it up. And then, both of them came in the middle.
And when the battle started, Arjuna left the arrow and stopped all the enemies. And then, Karna came in front of each other and Shalya came in front of each other. And then, Arjuna and Karna fought.
And Bheema and Shalya fought. So, when the fight was going on, then, Karna thought that this Brahmin must be very powerful. So, he started leaving the arrow and stopped all the enemies.
So, Karna said, who are you? He was very knowledgeable. Who are you? Are you a God? Are you a Brahmin? Are you a great warrior? Who are you? Tell me. So, Arjuna said, I am just a loyal disciple of my Guru.
And, when he heard this, what did Karna do? He put his bow down. Karna thought that the power of a Brahmin is divine. That is why, one should not fight with a Brahmin.
But, here also, if we see, Karna knew that this was Arjuna. But, Arjuna totally disrespected Karna. So, Karna put his bow down.
And, Bheem and Shalya went inside. Bheem threw Shalya away. And, when he saw this, the rest of the people asked, who are you? It is not important to fight with you.
Draupadi has left. Now, our bones will be destroyed. So, then, here also, we see that Karna could not overpower Arjuna.
Arjuna totally disrespected Karna. So, here also, Karna himself got himself insulted. Then, after that, Karna was known as a donor.
Whenever someone comes to ask for a donation, he always gives it. So, he was a good person. And, when Kauravas were conspiring, whenever there was a conspiracy, Karna used to say, there is no need to conspire.
Shakuni used to say, will we conspire? No, no, there is no need to conspire. We will directly fight with them and kill them. Shakuni used to say, no, no, it is not possible for us.
So, when there was a conspiracy, Karna never said yes directly. So, he was a good person. But, still, he never said no directly.
So, what happened was, Shakuni was at one place and Karna was at another. Karna used to say, fight with them directly. But, Shakuni used to say, no, no, we will not be able to win directly.
So, Duryodhana agreed to Shakuni’s words. And, Karna was a good person. And, similarly, there were three major conspiracies.
The first one was, burning down Varnavarth. And, the second one was, gambling. And, Karna was not playing completely, he was participating in it.
And, he was laughing at Pandavas. When Pandavas were losing, Duryodhana was laughing. And, later, when Draupadi lost, Karna suggested to Duryodhana, Duryodhana, Draupadi has become your slave.
Now, you bring her to the palace and make her your slave. And, enjoy her beauty. She has become yours.
So, this is not a Kshatriya characteristic. Normally, protecting a woman is a Kshatriya characteristic. Disrespecting a woman like this is a mistake of Kshatriya religion.
So, later, Karna repented. He said, I said this to please Duryodhana. In reality, I did not want to say this.
But, this is a prime example of how we live in a bad society. So, in order to please the people of that society, we should also do something. So, to please Duryodhana, he gave such a harsh suggestion.
And, we were discussing how when Draupadi was begging for justice, when Vikarna said something Karna humiliated her. So, Karna, in a way, completely sided with Duryodhana in the work of Adharma. And, later, when Pandavas left for exile, Duryodhana, Karna, and Dushasan were worried about what to do next.
They thought, Pandavas are so angry with us that if there is a war later, it will be very difficult for us. So, Karna suggested that Pandavas are alone without their leaders. So, what do we do now? Right now, we will take all the Kauravas and attack Pandavas.
And, Pandavas are alone in the forest. We will defeat them and kill them. Duryodhana said, ok, let’s go now.
Shakuni could not say anything. Karna was also angry. Karna was very eager to fight.
So, Karna said, let’s go this way. And, Duryodhana came out. And, when he came out, Duryodhana saw Vyasadeva.
And, Vyasadeva was very angry. He said, Vyasadeva is actually Dhritarashtra’s father. Duryodhana is his grandson.
Dhritarashtra is Pandavas’ father. Pandavas are also his grandsons. So, Vyasadeva said, Hey Duryodhana, what you have done is a very unrighteous act.
And, you will be punished for this act. And, what you are thinking of attacking Pandavas, is even more unrighteous. If you try to do this, I will curse you right now, and you will burn to ashes.
Duryodhana heard this. Duryodhana, no matter how proud he is, he knows the power of a Brahmin. So, he left.
He went back to his kingdom. So, here also we see, if Karna had wished, we know, in the end, Karna was fighting, and Duryodhana said, there should be a war among equal people. So, here there is no war among equal people.
Pandavas have no army, no chariot, no commander, they are alone. So, to fight with them, Karna incited Duryodhana. And, after this, when Pandavas went to the forest, Duryodhana thought, Pandavas did this yajna.
Pandavas did this yajna twice. The first yajna was in Rajasthan, in which Lord Krishna did Agra Pooja, and performed the yajna of Lord Krishna. And after the war, he did the yajna of Ashwamedha.
So, then Duryodhana said, Duryodhana, why did Pandavas do this yajna? It had increased a lot. It was because of the Yajna of Aishwarya. So, now Pandavas were removed, and Duryodhana said, now I will do this yajna.
So, he called the Brahmins. The Brahmins said, actually, until the first Rajasuya Yajna performed by the king, is alive, no other king can perform Rajasuya Yajna. So, you can perform another yajna, which is different from Rajasuya Yajna.
You cannot perform Rajasuya Yajna. Hearing this, Duryodhana became very angry. But he said, then Karna said, you give me the order, and I will win the whole world.
I will defeat all the kings of the world, and make all of them your slaves, and help you perform the yajna. You just give me the order, and I will go. And then, Karna left.
And Karna said, and Karna travelled all over the world, and defeated all the kings of the world. It was a very fierce battle. Karna was very powerful.
He defeated all of them, and when he returned, he brought a lot of treasures, like jewels, jewels, he brought a lot of treasures. And when he returned, Dhritarashtra was very happy. Dhritarashtra welcomed Karna.
He said, Hey Karna, Duryodhana was very happy. He is my friend. And he said, that in reality, the Bhishma Drona, who could not conquer our kingdom, Karna did it.
So, in reality, this is a distorted view. Karna is very weak. He is a great man.
We should not compare him. So, Bhishma Drona, who could not see Karna’s pride, was so proud, that Duryodhana made him proud. That is why, Bhishma Drona said, that although Karna has defeated all the kings of the world, but it was only possible to because he did not the Pandavas.
So, after hearing this, Karna said, that until I defeat the Pandavas, I will not eat sweets. I will not eat sweets. So, he ate 4-5 sweets.
He said, that until I defeat I will not eat sweets. I will not go to any Ramaniya Sabha, I will not do this, I will not do that. So, he took a vow.
And then, to make the Pandavas jealous, Duryodhana sent a message to the Pandavas, that King Duryodhana is conducting a big yajna, and you are being invited. So, when Bhishma Drona heard this, he said, we will come and show you what to do in the yajna. So, Duryodhana was very angry.
But Duryodhana was very calm. He said, that actually, because of my bad deeds, I have to stay in the forest for 13 years. That is why I cannot come to the kingdom.
But all my good wishes are with Duryodhana. So, this victory in Karna, increased Duryodhana’s faith in Karna. Karna is a very great warrior.
And in the meantime, in the meantime, Karna was a very generous person. So, at that time, a Brahmin came to the kingdom of Kauravas. And he went to Duryodhana.
And he said, that I want to do the yajna, but because of the rain, all the wood has become wet. So, that is why no wood is left here. But it is very important for me to do the yajna.
So, please arrange for some wood. So, Duryodhana said, why not? So, Duryodhana told all his soldiers, you search where wood is available. And they searched everywhere.
And the soldiers were very sad and said, that no wood is available. So, all the wood has become wet. And there is no wood for the yajna.
So, the Brahmin said, you will not be able to do the yajna tonight. But I know one person, who never said no to a Brahmin. That is Karna.
I will go to Karna and take the donation. So, they went to Karna’s palace. And when they were returning to do the yajna, the Brahmin said, you have given me so much wood for the yajna.
So, Duryodhana was surprised. Duryodhana was not jealous of Karna. So, Duryodhana said, I am the king, how did Karna get the wood? So, Duryodhana asked, how did Karna get the wood? So, Duryodhana said, he broke the doors of his palace and gave the wood.
So, this was his donation. So, this way, he donated a lot. After this, Duryodhana’s wife, Lakshmana, Duryodhana and Karna were very good friends.
So, they used to stay in the same palace. So, once Duryodhana went out, Duryodhana, his wife, Lakshmana and Karna, were playing a game of chess. And, when they were playing, Lakshmana lost again and again.
So, when she lost again and again, Duryodhana said, I am going. So, when she was going, Karna said, my friend’s wife is angry. So, stop.
So, Duryodhana stopped her. So, when she was going, Duryodhana caught her and her sari fell down. And, when her sari fell down, Duryodhana came in through the door.
So, Lakshmana was very ashamed to see this. And, Karna also got scared. Not as a warrior, but as a friend.
So, Duryodhana saw this and said, Hey Karna, I have so much faith in you that no matter what happens, I will never misunderstand you. So, when Karna heard this from Duryodhana, what happened? Karna became very angry with Duryodhana. So, actually, Duryodhana’s love for Karna was more than Duryodhana’s love for Arjuna.
And, Duryodhana thought, his intention was to use Karna against Arjuna in some way or the other. So, Duryodhana wanted to tie Karna to himself as much as possible. So, this is how Duryodhana tied Karna to himself.
So, shall we continue tomorrow? It’s already 3 o’clock, no? It will take at least 15-20 minutes. Because, it’s quite an event. We will continue tomorrow? What do you feel? I am here for another day tomorrow.
We will continue then. Tomorrow, we will discuss about one boy. There are 3-4 opinions.
One is, when Krishna comes in the form of Shantiniketan, that is when Krishna and Karna have an argument. Before the war, Krishna and Karna have an argument. And, later on, from the 10th to the 18th day there is also an argument.
So, we will discuss about this tomorrow. Thank you very much.
