Whatever be the mode in which our consciousness is presently, if we chant, then the consciousness rises upwards towards Krishna. The Holy Name extends Himself from the transcendental realm downwards to give us a helping hand and an uplifting pull. And by that, our consciousness gets raised upwards.
So to the extent we chant attentively, to that extent we can perceive the presence of Krishna even here in this world. And of course, to get the impetus to chant attentively, we can get an intellectual sense of Krishna’s presence, and that can act as an impetus for us. So by remembering how Krishna is here with us at all times, it is without Him there would be no material existence at all.
The world that we live in is created by Krishna’s arrangement. And we may work or do something to maintain our body, but it is ultimately Krishna who is maintaining the world for us. So it is His grace that is there around us, and by appreciating that grace in the form of the material things that He has provided us, we can gradually raise our consciousness to the spiritual level and attain His eternal association in His personal abode.
