furthered thank you Hare Krishna question why did lord jaitanya maha prabhu marry for a second time if he was going to take sanyas eventually very soon what was the need after his first wife passed away to marry again and then leave another woman unsheltered when he was going to take sanyas anyway answer whenever the lord performs any pastime there is a particular thrust a specific message that is to be conveyed and everything else is arranged to convey that message so if we do not understand that thrust then we can misunderstand any and every of the lord’s pastimes so lord jaitanya maha prabhu demonstrated through his leela how somebody can have the best of the material world and give up all that is the best for the sake of Krishna so he was born in a brahmana family and he although born his father was respected but he was not very wealthy jagannath nishra but jaitanya maha prabhu became respected and he also became quite wealthy because he was such a powerful scholar that he got many many students and the students will give gifts also it is not that jaitanya maha prabhu was fabulously wealthy but he was well situated highly respected so from the point of view of karma kanda karma kanda is material religiosity which was the predominant form of maya at that time in the society it was not that people were atheistic at that time when jaitanya maha prabhu was there people were religious but their whole idea of religion was dharma is for artha and karma and they considered the success of dharma to get artha and karma so jaitanya maha prabhu had everything that a material a pious materialist would aspire for he had respect he had finances reasonably good he had followers he had learning and then he had a chaste beautiful and beautiful wife so everything that a materialist dreams about jaitanya maha prabhu had that and then he demonstrated by taking sanyas that even the best that the world can offer the best in terms of being pious and being materially successful that is all nothing that is all insignificant when compared to what krishna bhakti can offer so it is this lesson that jaitanya maha prabhu wanted to demonstrate and for demonstrating that lesson he followed a career chart which as a leela in which he became materially successful he first of all became a pandit who defeated even the best pandit of his times keshav kashmiri so he became a claimed an unparalleled scholar a peerless scholar and he went to bengal also and was very successful over there now jaitanya maha prabhu demonstrated that there was no material failure in his life people’s idea of spirituality which is there even today and which is there that actually giving up everything for the sake of god is generally done by beggars people who are frustrated with material life jaitanya maha prabhu is demonstrating that even when one has the best of material life still the best of material life and not just sinful material life but best of pious material life so that is from the material point of view there is nothing condemnable nothing undesirable about it but jaitanya maha wanted to demonstrate that that is undesirable one should be ready to give up even the best that material life has to offer for the sake of krishna so his second marriage was a part of a plan to demonstrate this that even if there is a reversal saw his wife passing away was a reversal but immediately in material life at the request of his mother he rectified that and he married again so even when everything material was wonderful you know his consort vishnupriya was so beautiful that there were never any quarrels and she was completely devoted to him so even when everything was materially so wonderful shri jaitanya sanyas to demonstrate how krishna is better than what the best that material life can offer and one should be ready to give up the best of what material life can offer to get the best of ultimately what life can offer that is krishna so it is this lesson that shri jaitanya mahaprabhu is teaching and that is what is the thrust of the acharya that shri jaitanya mahaprabhu is demonstrating renunciation in an extraordinary way he was young he was handsome he was influential he had a beautiful wife he had everything that a person can aspire for at a material level and he gave it all up for the sake of krishna so now apart from this thrust whenever a particular message is being taught there may be other consequences also so now is it that the lord just for his plan is using vishnupriya and he is not caring for her if you understand the transcendental nature of the plan of the lord then vishnupriya yes at one level she was devastated when the lord left her and went away but then the whole principle of the glory of viraha bhakti that separation from krishna vipralamba seva chaitanya mahaprabhu himself demonstrated that by choosing not to go to vrindavan he went only for only once to vrindavan and that too for two months but for the rest of his life he was separated from vrindavan but still there in vrindavan in his thoughts and in his heart so similarly he gave that to the devotees of navadvip and he gave that to vishnupriya also so in fact he gave viraha bhakti the opportunity for viraha bhakti more to vishnupriya than to anyone else of course he gave it to sachimatha also but sachimatha was at least able to meet him once after advaitacharya diverted chaitanya mahaprabhu through nityanand prabhu to get him to shantipur and then sachimatha came to meet him but vishnupriya never got to meet chaitanya mahaprabhu so she experienced the separation the most and that separation itself is great ecstasy because in that separation there is the greatest intensification of the remembrance of krishna so any remembrance of krishna is like nectar so remembrance of krishna in union is like sweet nectar remembrance of krishna in separation is like bitter nectar but still it’s nectar it’s like hot sugar cane juice the taste one can’t give it up but still it burns the tongue also so we have to understand this at a transcendental level at a social level the culture varnasana culture was such that at that time it is not that vishnupriya and suchidevi they were left to fend for themselves with no bread winner and they had to starve and die no they continued to live for a long time and the chaitanya literature describes that both of them lived for a long time so social arrangement such that those factors were taken care of that time the vedic culture was there very well and other vishnu was considered a privilege to have the opportunity to serve and care for vishnupriya and suchidevi so that chaitanya mahaprabhu’s renouncing marrying the second time and renouncing the second wife should not be taken as a moral to be followed by everyone and that is something which shila prabhupada himself demonstrated shila prabhupada was married when he was introduced to bhakti sanskrit akul bhakti sanskrit akul wanted to preach in a reasonable way so the point is that the lord’s example is to teach a particular point to demonstrate that even the best of material life can be given up and should be given up for krishna’s sake but the principle is not that one should marry a second time and then renounce something like that that is not at all the essential message from this chaitanya mahaprabhu’s past time that’s why whenever the lord performs any past times we have to understand the importance of the past times through guru sadhu shastra and all our acharyas are focused on the renunciation of chaitanya mahaprabhu and the devotion that it demonstrates thank you
