Chaitanya Chaitanya Chaitanya Chaitanya 6.123 sat din parint aiche kare nashravane bhala mand nahi kahe vasi matra shune Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Sarovartacharya are sitting in the temple of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's temple and there Sarvamma Patanjali starts speaking Vedanta and Satya Dina Pariyanta for seven days Lord Chaitanya hears but he doesn't say anything good or anything bad he just sits there and hears it is naturally Sarvamma finds it very odd Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is very cordial very humble and suddenly he is almost closed off and becomes unresponsive so naturally he will himself bring up an objection to this concern about this so on the 8th day Sarvamma finally decided that I myself have to broach this and he brought up the issue he said seven days you have been hearing Vedanta it's interesting that Sarvamma is not saying seven days I have been teaching you so here we will see that although Sarvamma had a wrong philosophical orientation but still overall he is a cultured person and he is not saying that oh seven days I have been teaching you he said seven days you have been doing Vedanta Shravan the focus is not in his mind the focus is not on that I am instructing you but actually a sannyasi should hear Vedanta and I am simply the cause who will help you to hear Vedanta but the focus is on hearing Vedanta so he said after hearing for seven days you have not said anything good it is good it is bad it is clear it is unclear it is right wrong it is as if you have taken a vow now imagine if a teacher is speaking and all the students take a vow the teacher will feel very strange at the very least so whether you understand or not I'm not able to figure it out so teacher also needs some amount of responsiveness the students are completely poker-faced and they seem to have taken a vow then the teacher should I continue teaching or not and on top of that Sarvamma he is not being paid to do this he is voluntarily said that I instruct Lord Chaitanya so there is no contract over here between them so naturally he has a question what is going on here are you understanding or not why is it that you are so silent like this? Lord says, I am a fool, I have not studied Vedanta, I have not studied Vedanta, I have not studied Vedanta so Chaitanya Mahaprabhu says that he continues his very disarmingly humble role that he has taken relationship with Sarvamma and he says fool that I am a fool and therefore I have not studied Vedanta I have not studied Vedanta, I have not studied Vedanta and then the question may come then why are you hearing it? because you instructed so I'm simply following your instruction and I'm hearing Vedanta irrespective of whether I can understand it or not Sanyasi dharma lagi shravan matra kari, tumi yehi arthakara bhujite na pari so because it is said to be sanyasi dharma to hear Vedanta so I'm speaking Vedanta I'm hearing Vedanta but the meaning that you are giving I'm not able to understand it at all so Chaitanya Mahaprabhu now goes forward and he starts speaking some things which will actually lead to a dramatic transformation he says that now as far as devotees are concerned we want to hear not Vedanta, we want to hear Bhagavatam, we want to hear Krishna Katha constantly Bhagavatam is of course the natural commentary on the Vedanta so in that sense it is essentially the same thing but the point is why is it said again and again that sanyasi dharma is to hear Vedanta because sanyasi is attempting to transcend material existence and the transcending of material existence is not possible as long as we are caught by material desires so transcendental sound vibration is highly potent in raising our consciousness from the material level to the spiritual level of course the highest transcendental sound is about Krishna but even if one is not in the position to study about Krishna immediately or one is not inclined to study as it happens with those the impersonal orientation still Vedanta speaks about Brahman and even hearing about that because Brahman is also transcendental reality it has some purifying potency it has some elevating potency and because of that it is said that sanyasi should hear Vedanta he says that Mahaprabhu says that I am simply doing what you're telling instructing me to do but what you speak doesn't make any sense at all okay it's okay if you don't understand but at least you should tell me but so that you can understand you can ask me you can seek clarification if a student says to a teacher I don't understand what you're seeking the teacher is ready to often explain to clarify so he says why are you not asking me anything that is the implication and he will speak that also specifically so Sarovar was also expressing his bewilderment here you are hearing and hearing and hearing but you are remaining completely silent so what exactly is going on in your heart I'm not able to figure it out so normally people can't understand what is happening in anyone's heart it is our our words that offer windows to our heart so the head Jaitan Mahaprabhu does not speak any words then Sarovar says I cannot understand what is going on in your heart so are you understanding or not understanding are you agreeing or disagreeing so Jaitan Mahaprabhu he uses a strategy to completely discombobulate Sarovar first of all he hears I just now mentioned that seven days Jaitan Mahaprabhu was going off to sleep as if chanting Hare Krishna audibly and visibly no it's Sarovar it seemed as if Jaitan Mahaprabhu was hearing attentively but he remembered wordless remained wordless without that naturalness to question what is happening here so now we will see how Jaitan Mahaprabhu will reply and what transformation.
