CC daily 13 – M 4.41-42 – Focus on present loving reciprocation, not past wrongs
Thank you Madhavendra Puri chapter 4 verse 41 Madhavendra Puri is being told by Lord Gopal who has come as a boy that he should install his deity so here he continues Shri Gopalanama Mora Govardhanadhari Vajre Rastapita Ami Iha Adhikari the so the child who had come and given milk to Madhavendra Puri during his day time has now appeared in a dream and is telling is pointing to the deity which is there in the bushes and is telling so here he is telling that I am non different from him and that my name is Gopal now he has Madhavendra Puri has recognized that this deity is Krishna but he is now telling specifically which manifestation of Krishna what is the name of this particular deity Shri Gopalanama Mora Govardhanadhari that I am the I am Gopal and which Gopal Giridhari Gopal Govardhanadhari Gopal specifically so its significant that this particular manifestation of the lord was found on Govardhan near Govindakund Vajre Rastapita so Vajre Vajra is different from Vraja Vraja is Vrindavan Vajra can refer to the thunderbolt weapon of Indra but here Vajra refers to Vajranab who was the grandson of Krishna who actually installed deities in various places and he basically after the departure of the Pandavas and of the Yadus lot of devastation that happened so after that the restoration of everything was done by Shri Vajranab so Vajre Rastapita Vajra established these deities and then I am the Adhikari I am the authority I am the lord over here so Krishna is emphasizing that although he may be presently in a destitute position homeless living in a forest under a bush exposed to the elements still he remains the lord I am the authority so the world may not recognize the lord's position but the lord's position is not affected by the world's recognition so now the question may come up he is the Adhikari of this kingdom then what happened why is he not in a presiding position as a deity so now Krishna will tell the story of what had happened in the past Shaila Upari repeatedly in the Chetan Charita Amrit the word Shaila is used to refer to Govardhan Shaila Upari Haite Ama Kunja Lukaaya so there on the top of the mountain there is a Kunja and Lukaaya in that Kunja I was conceded and then Mleccha Bhaya Sevak Mora and my servant out of the fear of the Mlecchas Gela Pallaya ran away so here Chetan Charita Amrit reveals an intersection with the grim socio-political reality on which the transcendental pastimes of the lord are displayed Mleccha Bhaya refers here to the Muslim invaders in the Islamic doctrine because they have no conception, positive conception of god positive in terms of understanding who god is so in order to avoid people coming up with speculative images of god in the Quran worship of any form of god is banned because people don't know what the form is, the Quran doesn't describe it, so if people make any form those forms will be concocted and in order to not be misled by such concocted forms and because people at that time were not evolved enough to understand the conception of the form of god so no positive knowledge of the form of god is given in given by the prophet to people now because he is forbidding the worship of forms which is a contextual injunction that the followers of the Abrahamic religions especially Islam but other religions are also there in that same thing they have extrapolated what is the contextual regulation into universal injunction and based on that they consider all form, the worship of any form to be something forbidden and that's why repeatedly whenever the Muslim conquerors would conquer any particular kingdom, one of the first things that they would do along with plundering the women and the palaces for wealth would be to devastate the temples so now the devotees, the pujaris Krishna uses the word sevaka over here that he says that sevaka, my servant he just took me out out of the temple because he knew that his invaders are coming and they will desecrate the deity so he took him now, the deity cannot be carried with him all around so he hid the deity under the tree in the thicket, in the bushes and then he ran away now we may think how can a servant just leave the lord and run away like that every story has a particular context and purpose and if we want to understand the story then we need to stay in, stay focused on that context and purpose so here, if you see even Krishna is reporting it, he is not reporting it with any tone of anger or reproach there is no although we often use the word mleccha in a derogatory sense or outcast but while the word mleccha has that meaning, there is no judgmental tone of the lord here in referring either to the mleccha invaders nor to his servant, ok that just happened that just happened and that's how I was there so the lord is not thinking who was that servant who was so irresponsible who left me there or who was that mleccha who forced me to go out of the temple, I will break revenge on him now does he tell Madhavendra Puriya to find out that mleccha and break revenge on him now Krishna can perform his pastimes even when materially disastrous things seem to be happening because Krishna is essentially transcendental and at this transcendental level of consciousness where he exists now he at the material level, big upheavals may be happening but Krishna has translated this whole event of the rampaging attack of the mlecchas into an opportunity to hide and then an opportunity to reveal the hidden glories of Madhavendra Puriya to the whole world so although sometimes at the material level things may go wrong and may sometimes go disastrously wrong we should know that beyond it all the lord has a plan and if we stay patient and perseverant patient means perseverant means to the extent that we can do things, we should do things to improve, to rectify to better the situation but to the extent we can't do anything to that extent we just be patient, so if we are patient and perseverant in our service according to time and circumstance then eventually it will be revealed how the lord's will is supreme and how it prevails so in this past time the sobering reality of the desecration that used to happen during Islamic rule of India are acknowledged but Chaitanjali Tamra does not go into a hate campaign over there, rather it focuses on the devotional past times that have happened on the devotional past similarly there have been atrocities that have happened and we do need to take precautions so we need Kshatriyas and if there are temples, temples need securities but beyond that we should not go into a hate campaign oh in the past these Lichas they did so many atrocities we are going to take revenge no our focus is primarily on reciprocating love with the lord and even threatening, devastating worldly situations can be an arena for continuing the reciprocation of loving past times with the lord and how this reciprocation can go on is revealed in this past time by lord Gopal's non-judgmentally reporting a very we could say a blood curdling event but he just non-judgmentally reports it and just lets it pass on and Madhavendra Puri also doesn't give much attention he focuses on what can be done now so let the dead past bury its dead and let the living present live on and blossom on that is the mood in which devotee performs bhakti.
