CC daily 21 – M 78-79 – See ability to do wonderful service as Krishna’s mercy
Thank you. Chaitanya Chaitanya Amrit, Madhya Lila chapter 4, verse 78. Iha Anubhava Kaila Madhava Gosai Tandratthani Gopalera Lukanaki Chunai Iha Anubhava Kaila This was Anubhava experienced by Madhava Gosai, by Madhava Indra Puri.
Tandratthani Gopalera From him, Gopal, Lukanaki Chunai Gopal did not hide anything from Madhava Indra Puri and nothing remains hidden from Madhava Indra Puri. Both ways it can be understood. So the previous verses stated that actually when the food was offered to Gopal at that time Gopal took the food and he gave the transcendental remnants back.
Actually he took the food and he returned all the food. That's what is stated over there. Now Vimimandar, how is this possible? How can food be taken and returned like this? This was not perceived by ordinary senses but this was understood by Madhava Indra Puri because he had spiritual eyes.
With his spiritual eyes he could see what was actually happening beyond the surface. He could see that beyond surface appearances the Lord was accepting and the Lord was reciprocating by returning. Krishna can be perceived in the heart and Krishna's actions can be perceived in the world when one's eyes are tinged with the salve of love.
Actually, So actually one has the eyes of devotion and they are tinged with the salve of love. That's how it works. Now here the important point to ask, to consider is this that this Krishna who is omnipotent and he uses the omnipotence to have loving reciprocation to the devotees and that's how a devotee understands how Krishna can do inconceivable things.
In fact, the concept of omnipotence of Krishna has no meaning if we say that Krishna cannot do some things. Krishna can do anything and everything and that is how he is omnipotent. एक दिनेर उद्योगे ऐचे महोत सव कैल गोपाल प्रभावे है अन्य ना जानील Ek dinera udyoge, in one day's endeavour, in one day's effort, ऐचे महोत सव कैल, a magnificent festival happened, was organised.
गोपाल प्रभावे है This is simply the influence, the potency of Gopal manifesting. अन्य ना जानील No one, no one but a devotee can understand this or there is no other way that this can be understood. So now, when a festival is to be organised, it requires, first of all, a ready infrastructure.
If a temple is going to be organised, it must be also. First of all, we need to have a temple, we need to have DTs, we need to have funds. And then, even if all the basic infrastructure is there, even after that, managing and organising takes a huge amount of effort.
Sometimes it takes days, months, days, weeks, months also. So, at a time when the situation is such that there is no infrastructure also. There is no temple, there is no funds.
In fact, there are no DTs also. There was no idea also that a festival is going to take place. Just the DT appeared in one night and the next day, the DT was brought, kept in a temple and then the celebration was performed and a magnificent celebration took place.
So, how did it all work out? Gopala Prabhavde. It was the Lord who inspired Madhavendra Puri, externally and internally. It was the Lord who inspired people to come forward and contribute in doing service.
And it was the Lord who did everything in magnificent ways. The essential point to recognise is Gopala Prabhavde. So, Devotees strive to do something wonderful for the Lord and when they are able to do it, they understand that this is actually Krishna's mercy.
It is Krishna's potency that is manifesting. Krishna Prabhupada would say that the miraculous way in which the Krishna consciousness movement spread all over the world, it could not have happened without the potency of Krishna manifesting. And when His disciples were also able to do the extraordinary preaching, He would tell them, don't become proud.
It is not you who are doing this, it is Krishna who is manifesting His potency through you. And to the extent when we are able to do anything wonderful in Krishna's service, to the extent we remember that actually it is Krishna who is doing through us, to that extent we will stay humble and to that extent that wonderful service will infuse us with a greater appreciation of Krishna's greatness. If we think that we are the doers, then the success of any service will only increase our sense of our greatness.
We will think that, oh, just see, now this has demonstrated how great I am. That I was able to do something wonderful and something so great in such a short time. Thus, my greatness is now becoming demonstrated and now everybody should appreciate my greatness and appreciate me and glorify me.
So, the same success, if seen, even if the success is in the service of the Lord, that can take us closer to the Lord or it can sometimes even take us away from the Lord. Because if we strive for that success using anti-devotional means, or rather, our values, we may render devotional service, but if our attitude is not very devotional, if our attitude is more of demonstrating our own glories, then even if you organize a great festival, do a great service, we won't become purified by it substantially. Of course, any service done to the Lord with any motivation is good.
But ultimately, our goal is not just to do things, our goal is to love Krishna. And we can't love Krishna if we are caught in worldly, in name-freeing glory. Now, Krishna is all-powerful and Krishna is actually eager to glorify His devotees.
So, those who are His exalted devotees, if we try to serve them, if we try to assist them, then Krishna will help us in doing wonderful services just because He desires to glorify those devotees. Ultimately, He desires to glorify Krishna Prabhupada, He desires to glorify all the great Vaishnavacharyas and He wants to benefit the conditioned souls who are deprived of His mercy. So, we simply need to become instruments, channels of Krishna's compassion.
Essentially, what we need to do is to just get out of the way of Krishna. If we just get out of the way of Krishna, then Krishna can use us to do wonderful things as is being demonstrated here that Krishna used Madhavendra Pura as an instrument and what a wonderful instrument He was. That ek dine roj yoge, just one day's endeavor, one day's effort Aiche Mahotsava, Kaila, a magnificent festival was performed and Gopala Prabhave hai.
How did this happen? This is Gopala Prabhave hai. This is all the prabhav, the influence of Gopala. Anni na jani la There is no other explanation for this and others cannot understand this.
People may think, oh, it's just a coincidence that the deity was found, people were free at that time and people had grains also. So, it all worked out just that way. Somebody says it was all just coincidental that things worked out.
That person doesn't know coincidences are often the ways, God's way of staying anonymous. Krishna does wonderful things and sometimes when he wants devotees to use their intelligence, use their jnana chakshu to see the reality beyond the apparent and to thereby realize Krishna in action. So devotees can deepen their Krishna consciousness by this but atheists will not be able to see beyond the surface and thus they will stay trapped in illusion thinking that everything simply has a material cause and a material explanation.
