CC daily 47 – M 185-188 – Love is demonstrated through perseverance amidst problems
Chaitanya Chant Amrit Madhya Nila chapter 4 text 185 Sangye Eka Vat Nahi Rishi Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is glorifying Madhavendra Puri and he is saying Sangye Eka Vat Nahi there was not even one farthing which he carried with him he was mendicant in the fullest sense of the word Ghati Daan Adite and he was a sanyasi he would not need anything for his food which is fine but when he was going to carry Chandan he would need money to give to the toll collectors but when Madhavendra Puri started from Vrindavan he did not have anything to give to the toll collectors Tatha Piyut Saha Bada Chandan Alaya Yaite in spite of this obvious and gigantic obstacle still Tatha Piyut Saha Bada he had a great enthusiasm Chandan Alaya Yaite Chandan Alaya that I will get the Chandan for the lord for getting the Chandan he had great Utsaha, great enthusiasm Chandan Alaya Yaite so in general our enthusiasm is a function of the facility something easy to do often we feel enthusiastic something difficult we say should I do it, we think a hundred times but his enthusiasm was simply a function of the lord's desire the lord's instruction so he did not consider the difficulties Raghada Premera Ei Swabhavachar Nijadukha Vignadhir Nakare Vichar so now Madhavendra Puri now Chaitanya Mahaprabhu while describing the qualities of Madhavendra Puri now gives a, takes a little distance rise up on the ladder of abstraction and gives general principle from the specifics of the Madhavendra Puri pastime and his Pragadha Premer Pragadha very deep, dense concentrated love, very strong love Pragadha Premer Ei Swabhavachar this kind of Swabhava is nature or natural in this case Achar, this is a natural behaviour of deep love those who are deeply in love with Krishna they will naturally behave like this Nijadukha Vignadhir Nakare Vichar Nijadukha Vignadhir so the difficulties and the obstacles that will come upon oneself in the service of one's beloved that one does not consider at all Nijadukha Vignadhir Nakare Vichar Nakare Vichar Chaitanya Mahaprabhu has used the word Vichar earlier when he said Nityanandak just do Vichar, just contemplate how glorious is the love of Madhavendra Puri and now Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is using the same word Vichar over here in a different sense Nakare Vichar here Vichar means bother he would not let himself become burdened by worries like that he is focused in serving the lord Nijadukha Vignadhir he did not think about those things my lord has given me the instruction and I will do it so when we get the instruction, the lord if we sincerely try to execute the instruction, along with the instruction the empowerment will come and we will be able to do it so Madhavendra Puri had that faith Gopal wants me to do it, then I must do it and Gopal will give me the way how to do it so the nature of love is that the object of love comes so much into the focus of our consciousness the object of love so thoroughly consumes our consciousness that other things just go into the periphery and they often become inconsequential so the obstacle which was there for Madhavendra Puri, it was definitely a huge obstacle but he felt that it is not a huge obstacle it is inconsequential because he had the opportunity to raise his consciousness he had the opportunity he had the purity and this particular instruction provided him the opportunity to become even more deeply absorbed in the lord and thus he became oblivious to whatever obstacles nija dukha vighna miseries he might get whatever obstacles he might face all of them he just became oblivious to them that is the nature of pragada prema so pragada prema Vishnu Prabhupada writes in the Parpura an intense lover of Krishna does not care for any number of material discomforts scarcity, impediments or unhappiness nija vighna dir na kare vichar ehi tara gadh prema loke dekhaite gopal tanre ajna dil chandan anite ehi tara gadh prema ehi tara this is the with this gadh prema, with such a deep love Tara of Madhavendra Puri loke dekhaite to demonstrate to the world gopal tanre ajna dil chandan anite so gopal gave this order to him to get the chandan now gopal's body is transcendental and heat cannot affect that body but this was a leela and the purpose of the leela was to demonstrate the love of gopal, of Madhavendra Puri that how extraordinary is his devotion that even when there were insurmountable obstacles still rather than letting those obstacles dishearten him he stayed determined and he kept marching onwards so devotees determination is such that the obstacles fall by the way side in the old in the early days when television had just come into India when Ramayana would be shown on television sometimes two celestial arrows of two opponents would be shown as colliding so Ram sends an arrow and Ravana sends an arrow both the arrows collide and they just collide collide collide and then Ravana's arrow falls back it falls off that indicates that his arrow was defeated so like that when the devotee's determination and the obstacle collides so if the devotee is neophyte, if the devotee is not very serious if the devotee's love is if the devotee's love is feeble then the obstacle causes the devotee's love, devotee's determination to crumble and the devotee thinks I'll not do this thing, I cannot do this it's too difficult but when the devotee is determined the obstacle comes the determination is so powerful so forceful that the obstacle falls apart and the devotee keeps moving forward so Krishna Prabhupada faced so many obstacles in starting and spreading the Krishna Consciousness movement but he spread far and wide by his purity and his potency that was the so to demonstrate how great is the love of his devotee of Madhavendra Puri the lord did this pastime in which he asked Madhavendra Puri to get chandan for him get chandan for me so accordingly Madhavendra Puri after he got the instruction where he did great labour remuna nila so he brought the chandan from Puri to Remuna at that time there was no just cargo transportation company or something like that just pack and somebody will come and carry it from here and then transport it directly over there no he had to himself supervise and he himself had to at times even carries it anand badila mane and as he was carrying labouring the more labour he was doing actually his happiness was increasing anand badila mane dukha na ganila and he was not measuring oh how much trouble i am taking for my lord he was just thinking that oh i am able to do service and my service is now coming towards fruition with every step that i am taking towards onwards towards vrindavan towards govardhan when my service is moving towards its fulfillment gopal will soon be pleased will be relieved of the heat so thinking like this anand badila his ananda was increasing although there was labour sometimes we had to carry a big weight initially we may carry but if you keep carrying for a long time slowly our disposition becomes irritable how long will i carry this like this so although badalipuri was doing great labour he did not get irritated rather he became elated the character of nature of love is that when the difficulties come the difficulties make the lover make the devotee elated because the devotee sees here is an opportunity for me to deepen my absorption in the lord to intensify my service to him to increase my sacrifice to him and in this way bond more and more closely with him and that is the purpose and perfection of the devotee's life to bond more intimately with the lord and that's what madalipuri was doing and so anand badila mane anand badila his anand kept increasing and dukha na ganila he did not count the misery at all such is the glory of his love thank you.
