Madhya lila text 51 chapter 5 etashuni se vipra rahe mauna dhari tanra putra maari te aila hate thangha kari so etashuni se vipra rahe mauna dhari the younger brahmana this is the past time of Sakshi Gopal and the younger brahmana has come to the house the senior brahmana elder brahmana to ask him no you had given your promise now you are staying silent what is your plan etashuni se vipra so after hearing the younger vipra speak rahe mauna dhari the vipra remains silent tanra putra maari te aila hate thangha kari tanra putra his son came there maari te aila he came to beat him hate thangha kari and he had a big stick in his hand with which he wanted to beat this boy and then areyadharma mora bhagna chaha vibhate vamanahaiya chandayena chahat adharite areyadhama oh you degraded person mora bhagni my sister you want to marry my sister and what is this audacious like a dwarf vamanahaiya chandayena chahan adharite you are like a dwarf wanting to touch the moon so within the context cultural context the audacity the outrageousness the impossibility of the desire of this younger brahmana is castigating this is the son of the elder brahmana and he says vamanahaiya chandayena chahan adharite it is impossible for a dwarf to touch the moon in fact it's impossible for any human being to touch the moon by normal means so similarly it is impossible for you now it's also indicative of the audacity or the presumptuousness or the pomposity of the it is also indicative of the pomposity of the elder brahmana's son that he considers his own family to be like a moon but then let's see what happens so it's just indicative of how there can be barriers in society according to preconception so when he saw the stake the brahmana ran away from there and on the next day what did he do he brought all the people together so when he submitted a plea to the village assembly then they called the elder brahmana so it's interesting that in different social systems and throughout the ages there were different kinds of justice systems so for example now we have judges we have there are elaborate law courts and there is pleading by lawyers from both sides and then there is a decision that has arrived but in the past things were simpler and especially when the disputes are simple then they would come to a village in assembly and then the village elders would hear and then they would decide so the brahmana did not want to escalate the issue to a higher level to go to a king or anything like that he wanted so he first attempted to resolve the issue by directly approaching the elder brahmana's family but then when that didn't work out rather he was threatened with violence and his character was questioned then he decided to seek redressal by going to the local panchayat sort of village court and so they all the people they called villagers they called the elder brahmana and then the younger brahmana began to speak to them foreign so this person has this gentleman has told me that he will give his daughter to me in marriage he has made this commitment to me but but now he's not giving what kind of behavior is this if one makes a word then one should stay committed to that word but if it doesn't stay committed to the word then that is that is lack of integrity that lack of honesty so what kind of behavior is this that actually the commitment one is not honoring one's words he doesn't need to explain anything more he just says that you are not being honest over here you're not keeping your word over here what kind of behavior is this and especially for a person who's a brahmana a respected leader in the community certainly at that time it's much more important to keep one's words foreign at that time they all asked this vipra all of them they asked if you have given your word then why are you not ready to give your daughter to him so he repeated the story which has been told by his son please hear my submission my petition what i spoke when i spoke i don't remember it on hearing this so his son decided to do some word juggler means some sort of deception he decided to do deception by word jugglery means impudent and his father did not want to desist did not want to speak a false word but this son was ready to do that so so he said he started speaking the words what did he speak so he said that on the tirtha yatra he had gone with my father to see the yatra and they saw that my father had a lot of money my father had taken it along with him for good purposes to give charity and other things when he saw that wealth he decided that i want to take this wealth he thought and accordingly he started making a scheme he started making a plan how he could take that wealth so basically he went forward and there was he started doing sort of assassination of the character of this person he's saying that he's greedy and he's made a scheme by which he could take the the money so there was no one with him and he alone was there he fed my father something a poison like an intoxicant like dhutura and and he made him almost like mad so it's like you know there's a whole elaborate story being strung to get away from the fact of wanting to give his daughter so leave alone keeping that commitment he is normally it says if you want to hang a dog give a dog a bad name so that's what is they are attempting what is the brahmanas are attempting he said that actually he stole the stole the wealth from us that he took away our wealth and he said that actually it is our son it is thief has stolen the wealth and then now on top of that after having stolen like this on top of that he is saying that what is the claim that he's making he's asking us that we give his daughter what.
