CC daily 73 – M 5.114-119 – Devotees desire to broadcast the Lord’s mercy
Thank you Madhila, chapter 5, text 114 So the lord is speaking now To the two brahmanas The lord has given witness And the honor of both the brahmanas has been preserved So By the truthfulness of both of you I have been satisfied Please ask for a benediction Now The younger brahmana's truthfulness can be understood That He had so much faith that the lord will come as a witness That he went all the way to Vrindavan And cleverly argued in such a way that The lord agreed to come But what about The elder brahmana What does he mean by truthfulness In general In this world Truthfulness is an important virtue But it also has to be balanced with other factors So the elder brahmana was also truthful In the sense that when he gave his word In front of the deity to give his daughter In marriage to the younger brahmana He intended to keep the word At the same time When his family members threatened To kill themselves Then he could not very well Neglect that threat Because he as the head of the family Was responsible for taking care of them So he wanted to preserve his truthfulness At the same time he also wanted to ensure That his family members did not die So that's what also he prayed to the lord When he went along with his son's plot To try to defend the younger brahmana So the elder brahmana Although externally it might seem that He did not readily keep his word Unless his hand was forced Actually his intention was Not to depict the younger brahmana As a negative light But to ensure that his family members Did not take this extreme step So in this way both his dharma as a brahmana In terms of protecting his word And his responsibility of taking care Of his family members both was taken care of The lord said I am pleased with you Therefore you can ask for a benediction And then both of them Became joyful to know that the lord was pleased with them The lord had manifested before them And the lord was now asking for a benediction They became very pleased and said With joy they asked for a benediction Text 115 If you want to give us a benediction Their selflessness also is seen Their devotion also is to be seen here They did not ask for wealth They did not ask for position or power Please stay in this position If you want to give us a benediction How merciful you are to your servants The whole world will come to know about it Now actually It is coming all the way To be a witness Itself is an extraordinary story And that itself is going to be proclaimed But the native which was in the north Comes to the south Comes to the south for a visit and goes back But stays over there That is even more astonishing And if the deity stays here People will come at different times And people will see the deity And then they will hear the story of the deity And then if they just come and go It may get forgotten But if you stay here That will be remembered for a long long time And all people will come to know about your glory Therefore their request is also a devotional request That the lord's love for his devotees May be known to the whole world So that more and more people will become devoted to him Here we see the more or less pure Devotional nature of their desires So Gopala Rahila So accordingly Gopala decided to stay there And both of them served Gopala over there They knew that Gopala had stayed over there At their request And actually they considered it their responsibility As well as a great opportunity for them To have the opportunity to serve Gopala They both served Gopala over there So to see this wonderful thing What exactly had happened How the lord manifested himself From various parts of the area All over the country People came to see this amazing deity To bestow mercy on the two brahmins On his servants So the king of that area When he heard this astonishing story The king himself came The kings in those times Were very reverential Were quite pious devotees Most of them And the event of a deity On his own coming to his kingdom And residing at the place of his kingdom was so momentous That the king decided to come himself And he came And when he actually saw with his own eyes How this Gopala lady had come And how the Gopala lady was so extraordinarily beautiful He felt extremely joyful Now here again we see that The devotee What starts off as one devotional desire Then manifests into a major Major devotional center So it was the devotional desire of the Elder brahmana to give Younger daughter to the younger brahmana for service As a reward for his faithful service And that was done in front of the Deity and then the deity came as a witness So from one desire what all will manifest The king himself has come and seen it Seen the deity but now much more is going to happen So mandira kariya Now the brahmanas They did not have, even the elderly brahmana Who was from a rich family That richness was also relative To the average level of wealth of the brahmanas It was not that this rich brahmana had enough wealth To build a temple on his own Building a temple requires a huge amount of Resources So when the king came there The king was so pleased to see the deity And he felt that this deity should be honored with a temple So he built a temple Now the two brahmanas were serving the deity But when the king came The deity should be served Much more gloriously So accordingly He arranged for the service of the deity And then And then This deity became celebrated by the name Sakshi Gopal The deity who had given Born witness for the sake of his devotee.
