Doesn’t thinking that we have talents make us proud? (Hindi)
That time we could say that their death is this time.
Now you will get ego. In reality, such a thought is ego. Why? Because in such a thought, we think that now I don't have ego.
When I say like this, I think that I will say a good sentence or I will think that I will say a good sentence, after that I will get ego. What I am saying is that I don't have ego now, but later I will get ego. So it is not like that, we all have ego from the beginning.
We all have ego, but many times we don't have a chance to show that ego. There is no reason to show ego. I used to think that I am very big.
How can I show that I am big to people? Nobody knows. That's why my ego doesn't come out. The cure for pride is not separation of talent.
The cure for pride is purification of intent. If I really know how to play mridangam well, then I know the truth that I can play it well. If I say that I can't play mridangam well, then that pride won't come out.
If I say that I play mridangam well, then I will get pride. That's why I won't play mridangam. But what will happen? Somebody is going to play mridangam.
If somebody else plays mridangam well, then I will be jealous of him. If I say that I won't play mridangam, then I won't get pride. But that same feeling will come in the way of jealousy.
That's why if we have some talent, then it is not wrong to check and understand that. For example, I don't have to go and tell everybody that I play mridangam very well. There is no need to tell everybody.
But if we can objectively see the truth that I don't know how to play mridangam, then we know that we can do it in service. So, the cure for pride is not suppression of talent, but purification of intent. Purification of intent means for whom I am playing mridangam.
If I say that God has given me the power to play mridangam, and it is a miracle of God, then I am playing mridangam for the love of God. If I think like this, then what will happen? Then I will be able to play mridangam and I won't get pride. So, whatever power is given to us, it is actually given by God.
And we have to use it in service of God. So, if I say that I don't have this power, then I won't be able to use the power given by God. So, we don't need to tell the whole world about our talent.
But if we go somewhere, if a new authority comes and asks us that what service do you do? We can say that I play this and that. But every time I meet a new devotee, I don't need to tell him that I have become a Tukada. I don't need to tell anyone.
But if we don't have any knowledge about service, then we don't know and it is not wrong to tell others. That's why it is called purification of intent. Why am I doing this? We have to see that.
And if we do that with the intention of service, then surely it will give us praise. So, when we think that I have this and they don't have this, then what is there in that? We are only looking at me and them. I have this, that's why I am big.
They don't have that, that's why they are small. And if we see that whatever I have, it is given to me by God. And I have to use it in their service.
So, God must have given something else to others. So, when we see that this talent of mine is not there to show me to the world. I have to use it in the service of God.
When our center is with God, then we have the capacity to be aware of it. We can be aware of it, but we don't have to be proud of it. Do you understand?
