Gita 03.12 – Consciousness is our contribution to the cosmic cycle and satisfaction will be our return

Thank you so here Krishna is talking about how karmakanda is a progressive stage on the ascent to bhakti ishtan bhogan shivo devah so he is describing that whatever is one desirable object desirable enjoyable objects dasyante yukyabhavitah so we satisfy the devatas through yajna and then once they are satisfied they give those objects to us and then once we get the objects again we need to offer them back to offer the objects back to the devatas to continue the cosmic cycle of consumption and contribution if we don't do that those who do not take this are thieves, those who do not contribute to us those who do not do sacrifice are thieves nature is cyclical for example the cloud takes water from the ocean and then showers that on the land and from the land the water goes back through the rivers to the oceans again and this is a cycle we take oxygen, give out carbon dioxide trees take in carbon dioxide, give out oxygen and again it is cyclic there are so many places in the universe where in nature we see there is cyclic balance so every in the cyclic balance every unit is both a consumer and a contributor there is a similar cosmic cycle in the larger universe between us humans and the devatas the gods and of course even the gods are appointed by Krishna so if we do a direct reciprocation of devotion with Krishna then we do not have to do any worship separately for the devatas but otherwise we are duty bound to offer worship to the devatas either we have a cycle of contribution consumption with the devatas where we offer sacrifices they give us the desired objects and then we use a portion of those desired objects to offer sacrifices to devatas again or we can do a cycle of consumption, contribution with Krishna because Krishna is transcendental and he aims to raise us to transcendence so the cosmic cycle of reciprocation with him focuses largely on transcendence that's why Krishna later in the 9th chapter when he talks about his worship he says that we can just give him leaves, flowers, very simple things actually what he wants is devotion and we offer our devotion to those simple objects and Krishna reciprocates by offering grace his mercy and through this reciprocation we gain purification and eventually we even gain liberation and not just an ordinary liberation but a supreme liberation of pure love with Krishna in the spiritual world, in his eternal world so now when we chant the holy names we have the opportunity to enter into this cosmic cycle of consumption and contribution not just enter into it but to take it to its culmination by making it not just a cosmic but a trans-cosmic cycle Krishna exists in the transcendental abode he is non-different from his holy name and he manifests here as the holy name so it is by loving Krishna that we can by trying to chant his holy names with a loving intention we can enter into a cycle that can take us to the highest levels of spiritual ecstasy and the highest summits of spirituality in the spiritual world with Krishna in Goloka that is the potential of.
